“Degree in English grammar” degree in grammar
মূলত Comparison of Adjective কে Degree বলা হয়।
★ Adjective এর গুণের মাধ্যমে ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুর মধ্যে একটি হতে অন্যটিকে পৃথক বা তারতম্য হয়, তাকে সাধারণত Comparison of Adjective বলে।

Comparison of Adjective তিন প্রকারঃ
1. Positive Degree
Positive Degree indicates uncomparable quality of noun and pronoun (তুলনাহীন গুণ)
≈ No other boy in the class as good as Shihab.
(ক্লাসের অন্য কোনও ছেলে শিহাবের মতো ভাল নয়।)
2. Comparative Degree
The adjective form which compares two nouns’ or pronouns’ quality,fault,states is known as comparative Degree (দুটি noun বা pronoun এর মধ্যে দোষ,গুণ,অবস্থার তুলনা বোঝাতে Adjective এর যে রূপ ব্যবহৃত হয় তাকে Comparative Degree বলে।(দুইয়ের মধ্যে তুলনা)
≈ Ramim is better player than Shamim.
(শামীমের চেয়ে রমিম ভাল খেলোয়াড়।)
3. Superlative Degree .
The form of adjective which is used to compare among varous Noun or pronoun is called Superlative Degree ( Adjective এর যে রূপটি একাধিক noun বা pronoun এর মধ্যে তুলনা বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত হয় তাকে Superlative Degree বলে।) (অনেকের মধ্যে তুলনা)
≈ Naima is the most beautiful girl.
(নাঈমা সবচেয়ে সুন্দর মেয়ে)

√তুলনা করার ক্ষেত্রে Adjective গুলো Degree অনুযায়ী পরিবর্তন হয়। নিম্নে তা দেওয়া হলোঃ
সাধারণত ‘Degree in English grammar এ Adjective word টি positive, এর শেষে er যোগ করে comparative আর est যোগ করে Superlative করতে হয়।

Positive থেকে Comparative করার নিয়ম সমূহ
Rule-1
Positive degree: No other + Noun2 + Verb + as positive Adjective as + Noun1
(No other country in the world is as long as Russia.)
Comparative degree: Noun1 + verb + comparative এর Adjective + than any other + noun2
(Russia is longer country than any other country in the world.)
Note: Noun 1 বলতে sentence এর প্রথম বসা Noun কে আর Noun 2 বলতে Sentence এ শেষে বসা Noun কে বুঝানো হইছে।
More example:
Positive degree: No other boy in the class is as bad as Rifat.
Comparative degree: Rifat is worse than any other boy in the class.
Rule-2
Positive degree : Very few + noun2(plural)+ verb+ as positive adjective as + noun1
(Very few countries in the world are as beautiful as Japan)
Comparative degree: Noun1+ verb + comparative এর Adjective + than most other + noun 2(plural)
(Japan is more beautiful than most other countries in the world.)
Note: Very few পর সবসময় plural noun বসে।
More example:
Positive degree: Very few places are as charmed as Taj Mahal.
Comparative degree: Taj Mahal is more charmed than most other places.
Rule-3
Positive degree: Noun2 + verb + as positive adjective as + Noun1
(Shamim is as good as Ramim)
Comparative degree: Noun1 + verb + not + comparative adjective + than + Noun2.
(Ramim is not better than Shamim)
More example:
Positive degree: He is as kind as me.
Comparative degree: I am not kinder than him.
Rule-4
Positive degree: Noun2 + verb + not + as positive adjective as + Noun1
(Shamim is not as good as Ramim)
Comparative degree: Noun1+ verb + Comparative adjective + Noun2
(Ramim is better than Shamim)

Superlative degree: He is one of the most brilliant students in the college.

Superlative degree: China is the strongest country in Asia.

Comparative degree: Noun1+ verb + comparative এর Adjective + than most other + noun 2(plural)
(Japan is more beautiful than most other countries in the world.)
Superlative degree: Noun1 + verb + one of the + Superlative এর Adjective + Noun2(plural)
(Japan is one of the most beautiful countries in the world.)

Comparative degree: Amazon is bigger forest in the world.
Superlative degree: Amazon is one of the biggest forests in the world.
