★ সাধারণ Noun কথাটির অর্থ হলো নাম। A Noun is a naming word.
সেজন্য যেকোনো নামবাচক শব্দকে Noun বলে। A noun is a word that functions as the name of a specific object or set of objects, such as living creatures, places, actions, qualities, states of existence, or ideas.
A noun is a word which is used as the name of a person, place or thing.— Wren & Martin
আরো সুন্দর করে বলতে গেলে A noun is used for naming a person, a place, a thing, an animal or an idea. (Noun ব্যক্তি, স্থান, জিনিস, প্রাণী এবং ধারনার নামের জন্য ব্যবহার করা হয়।)
উদাহরণস্বরূপ বলা যায়, আমার আমাদের চারপাশে যা কিছু দেখতে পাই সবই Noun বা বিশেষ্য। যেমন ঃ তুমি পড়ার টেবিলে বই পড়ার সময় আকাশে একটি পাখি উড়ে যেতে দেখলে। (You saw a bird fly in the sky while reading a book on the reading table.)
এখানে, পাখি (bird), আকাশ (sky), বই (book), টেবিল (table) এগুলো সবই Noun.
Position of Noun in the sentence (বাক্যে Noun/বিশেষ্যের অবস্থান।)
√Noun is used as Subjects
(Noun/বিশেষ্য সাবজেক্ট হিসাবে ব্যবহৃত হয়)
Honesty is the best policy. The man is happy. The student left early.
√Noun is used as direct objects
(Noun/বিশেষ্য প্রত্যেক্ষ অবজেক্ট হিসাবে ব্যবহৃত হয়)
I love flower. He sent the mail. Bangladesh win the game.
√Noun is used as indirect objects (Noun/ বিশেষ্য পরোক্ষ অবজেক্ট হিসাবে ব্যবহৃত হয়।)
He sent me the mail. It is her home.
√ Noun is used as objects of preposition. (Noun preposition এর অবজেক্ট হিসাবে ব্যবহৃত হয়)
The students of English literature are good. He is a man of letter.
√Noun is used as object complements (Noun/ বিশেষ্য অবজেক্ট এর পরিপূরক হিসাবে ব্যবহৃত হয়।)
I call my son Harry.
√Noun is used as predicate nominative. (Noun/বিশেষ্য predicte nominative হিসাবে ব্যবহৃত হয়)

নিম্নলিখিত শব্দগুলো কোন শব্দের শেষ অবস্থা করলে সেই শব্দটি বাক্য Noun হিসাবে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
যে কোন শব্দের শেষে নিম্ন লিখিত suffix গুলো থাকলে তা Noun হিসাবে গণ্য হয়।

Noun are five different kinds.
1. Proper Noun ( (নাম বাচক বিশেষ্য)
2. Common Noun (জাতিবাচক বিশেষ্য)
3. Collective Noun (সমষ্টিবাচক বিশেষ্য)
4. Material Noun (বস্তুবাচক বিশেষ্য)
5. Abstract Noun (গুণবাচক বিশেষ)

♣Proper noun কাকে বলে
যে noun দ্বারা নির্দিষ্ট ব্যক্তি, বস্তু ও স্থানের নাম বুঝায়, তাকে proper noun বলে। Proper nouns start with a capital letter. Like – Chittagong, IMF,Ratan,The Prothom Alo, etc
Example: Proper noun
→Dhaka is Capital of Bangladesh.
→Rahim is a good boy.
→The Daily star is an English newspaper.
Note: Proper noun সর্বদা Capital latter দিয়ে লেখা শুরু করতে হয়।
♣Common Noun
যেসকল Noun একই জাতীয় বা শ্রেণির সমগ্র ব্যক্তি ও বস্তুকে বুঝালে, তাকে Common noun বলে।( A common noun is the generic name for a person, a place, or anything in any class or group )
Example:
→Flower is the symbol of beauty.( এখানে flower বলতে পৃথিবীর সমস্ত ফুলকেই বোঝাচ্ছে,কোন একটি নিদৃষ্ট ফুলকে নয়)
→Tasin is an intelligence boy. ( boy বলতে সকল বালককেই নির্দেশ করে )
– The Jamuna is a big river ( river বলতে সকল নদীকেই বোঝায় )

♣Collective Noun
সমজাতীয় কিছু ব্যক্তি বা বিষয়ের সমষ্টি একটি নামে বুঝালে সেই শব্দটি Collective Noun হয়। (Collective nouns are the names for any collection or a number of people or things. )
Example:
→ The army is formed with discipline. ( army বলতে সকল মানুষকে না বুঝিয়ে ,কোন এক সৈন্যদলকে নির্দেশ করে )
→ The Jury is of the same opinion. ( এখানে Juryশব্দটি দ্বারা সকল প্রকার মানুষকে না বুঝিয়ে শুধু যার বিচারক তাদেরকে বুঝানো হয়েছে)

♣ Material Noun
কোন বস্তু বা জিনিস দ্বারা গঠিত বা বস্তুর উপাদানকে Material Noun বলে।বা যে সব বস্তুকে গণনা করা যায় না তাকে Material Noun বলে। ( A material noun is a term which refers to a material or substance from which things are made .Actually material is the name of somethings which is tangible. )
Such as silver, gold, iron, cotton, diamond and plastic etc.
Example by sentences:
→ This is made of gold.
→ The table made of still.

♣ Abstract Noun
ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুর নিরপেক্ষ গুণ, কাজ বা অবস্থানের নাম হলো Abstract noun.এ গুলোকে শুধু ইন্দ্রিয় দ্বারা উপলব্ধি করা যায়।ধরা বা ছোয়া যায় না। Abstract noun refer to names an quality,concept,idea or even event that you can’t touch . Actually An abstract noun is an intangible thing made up of feelings or characteristics )
